Gliding-possums in the Northern Territory are currently recognised as a subspecies of Sugar Glider (Petaurus breviceps ariel). However, recent genetic work suggests that they’re more closely aligned with the Squirrel Glider (Petaurus norfolcensis) and Mahogany Glider (Petaurus gracilis), neither of which is known to occur in the Northern Territory. DNA from the animal above, captured (and later released) on the Judburra Gregory Bush Blitz, should help resolve this taxonomic puzzle © Copyright, Teigan Cremona
