2026 Student Travel Awards
Calling all students! This year we’re excited to partner with the Society of Australian Systematic Biologists (SASB) to fund a new round of Student Travel Awards. The Awards will help support undergraduate, honours, masters or PhD students and members of SASB to visit collections, undertake fieldwork or attend conferences to enhance their research and careers.

Bush Blitz symposium at the 2026 AES × SASB Evolution in the Gong Conference
We’re also excited to announce that we will be presenting a Bush Blitz themed symposium at the 2026 Evolution in the Gong Conference co-hosted by the Australian Evolutionary Society and Society of Australian Systematic Biologists.
Nestled between the biodiverse Illawarra Escarpment and the ocean, the conference will be hosted at the University of Wollongong campus on Dharawal Country from 2 to 4 December 2026.
Key dates:
- 17 July 2026 – Super early bird registration closes. Use code SUPEREARLY2026 for 10% off.
- 31 August 2026 – Early bird registration closes.
- 8 November 2026 – Final registration closes.
- 2 to 4 December 2026 – Evolution in the Gong conference.
Wollongong is conveniently located 1–1.5 hours by train from Sydney and around 2.5 hours by car (or 3 hours by bus) from Canberra, as well as having its own airport.
