Spiders

Robert Raven (Queensland Museum) is the spider expert on the ACT Bush Blitz.

Robert has been on several Bush Blitz expeditions and has described more funnelweb, trapdoor and tarantula species than any person living or dead!

Meet some live spiders and find out the answers to some spider-related questions including:

  • How do you know which spiders are dangerous and which are not?
  • How do you know when you’ve found a new species?
  • How do you choose a name for a new species?
  • What could we lose if a species becomes extinct? (hear about the breast cancer treatment being developed from spider venom!)
